Went to the Mets gameee. haha get this, the attendance was 8,766. 8,766!! Theres usually like, what, 40,000? 50,000? Ok whatever it was really cool. So we moved all the way up to like 5 seats back from field level it was awesome. Sooo close to getting Utley's autograph but he had to go :-(

Anyway, awesome game. Win of 8-3 and Howard got HR # 47 which was exciting to see. Pat Burrell's HR was not fun. The fans teasing him were though, because he couldn't make catches in the field.

Saw what I had always believed to be the impossible -- a call that was overturned. So Wright hits a ball up the third base side, it bounces off the bag and the ump calls it a foul but Acta doesnt stand for that crap and out comes Randolph and then all of a sudden theres all these different huddles on the field. The umps are in a little circle in the middle, the Phillies have their little posse on the mound, Randolph Acta and Beltran are togehter at third base, Delgado and Alomar and Ryan Howard are at first, David Wright is all alone at home plate just hangin out, and Chase Utley is in his ready to field position.
Finally they award Wright his well deserved base, Beltran is allowed to score, and Charlie Manuel is ejected. And proceeds to give the ump the finger. haha. silly old man. They should have given David second, because it clearly would have been a double. But, a wins a win. I'm happy.
How come David eats towels??
Paulie was the player of the game. Yay for midgets.

Magic number is 18.

//edit:

"The ball was curving down the line and, to be honest with you, at the last minute, I had the third baseman coming over and the runner down the line and I got distracted for a second," Marsh (third base ump) said. "[Mets third-base coach] Manny Acta said it hit the corner of the bag and I admit it was my fault. I took my eye off it, which was wrong."

"I've never seen a play like that in my life," said Wright, who was awarded a single. "They definitely got the call right but either way I would have had another opportunity to do something if they had kept it foul. And Randy's one of the best umpires in the game, so I feel they did a good job."
hah. sometimes he's too...nice. i dunno. cut the shit

Alright, so Mets/Phils game tomorrow (free field level third base side seats) or this Big Sib/Lil Sib (as in helping out freshies) orientation thing at school. To prepare for when the Freshmen come on tuesday.

The latter is kind of mandatory though not entirely, if that makes sense. I just think my fellow big sibs would not be happy about missing it for a game. Not that they have to know that that's the reason. But shit, I really wanna go to this game. Third base side plus there's Utley tooo.

Why is the first at 12:10 and the second at 1? Since when are games at 12:10?!? Are make up games exceptions or something? ugh.

Phillies?

Ok I don't understand why we have so many issues with beating the Phillies. The team that is 13.5 games behind us, the team that is only two games over .500, and the team who has some whacko green fuzzy creature for a mascot. (Fine, so we have a dude with a ball for a head. Clearly somebody in the Mets administration had creativity issues. Besides the point.) This is four out of the last five games we've played against them that have gone down the drain. I think it has to do with Ryan Howard's affinity for home runs. There's something else puzzling. Him and Wright both make it to the final round of the HR contest, he can still smack em out like it's nobody's business, whereas David can't even muster up a single.

But I shouldnt really complain because we're pretty lucky over all. It was Bannister's first start off the DL, anyway. And it's just one game. Shit happens. Any team can win on any day.
The Phillies get props for Chase Utley though, who is a hottie.

Anyway,Oliver Perez is pitching for the first time tomorrow, we'll see how that goes. I'm so sad that school starts in like 10 days, that means I can't just sit around and watch TV or watch baseball whenever I want. It's pretty much gotten me through this summer. Kind of sad, i know. At least football's only on the weekends. go Bucs!

22 is the magic number (as of yesterday) =)

BRIAN'S BACK TOMORROW! Bannister is finally back after being forgotten. Score.

And props to the Mets for sweeping STL. Joseeee Jose Jose Joseeeeeeeeeeee. Reyes is da man. And Ducie too. And David needs to get into 300ville and out of "fagrod land" as my yankee fan friend calls the 200's. A-rod's home.

22 is the magic number!

Oh, and David Wrights awesome barehanded catch from last Aug. was #3 on the top Mets webgems :) sweet.

Yesterday was actually the best game that I've ever been too. Totally amazing. Back from 7-1 to win 8-7? Doesn't get much sweeter. And just that feeling..the adrenaline rush when Beltran made contact with that final game-winning hit. The whole stadium errupts and its such a unifying moment.
And delgado hit his 399th and 400th. And Pujols, too, put on a show.
What a night.
Poor David.

I've decided that if I were to be all caught up in Yanks/RedSox, I would rather be a Sox fan. They're so much more into it in my opinion. I mean, they're just much more fanatical it would probably be a fun time. Plus the Yanks are greedy and are only building a new park for more box suites. Who needs um.
But, I'm pulling for the Yanks in this five-game series because I do have new york pride. And they're in Boston so I just want them to win. I dunno.
More importantly, 6-3 over the Rockies! sweet. Endy is awesome, why they bat him after both Woody and Michael Tucker beats me, but whatever. And David discovered what a base hit is. Score.

I can't believe the Yanks have come back 14-10 now. One more inning to go.

Sillyness from Baseball Tonight:
Announcer 1: The Brewers have 11 walk-off wins this season, which leads the majors, and they're all at home!
Announcer 2: Obviously they're all at home...

Also entertaining, SNY commentators expressing their thoughts on Byung Hyun Kim needing to take part in a Samurai movie due to his high leg kick while pitching and spins after swinging a bat. Because Korea was the country with Samurais. not.

It's 4 a.m. and I sit here having just created this journal off pure impulse to have some physical way of expressing my love for baseball. Especially being a girl it's not easy to find others who identify with such a feeling. So I applaud and am grateful to those who can identify.
I should start with the mets then i guess. What an awesome season it's been despite the Phillies three recent days of fun. Finally, Yankee fans just can't lay it on as thick.
And when is David Wright going to come out of his fun little slump? It's been so terrible since the all star game.
Maybe bed is a good option.
